Funding Our Care

St. Joseph’s Hospice is an independent charity, with rising costs and an increasingly small amount of NHS funding. It costs over £4 million every year, or £10,000 a day, to keep St. Joseph’s Hospice running and so we rely heavily on our local communities and businesses to support us through donations, wills & legacies, fundraising and volunteering.

In order to continue providing care at our current level, and succeed in our mission of caring for more people in our community, we need your help more than ever.

Our hospice site in Thornton is also the home of our fundraising, retail, and volunteer teams who manage activities such as:

  • Running our Hospice Lottery
  • Managing 10 charity shops across Merseyside
  • Supporting over 200 volunteers
  • Recruiting new volunteers
  • Planning and running events
  • Raising awareness of the hospice
  • Supporting our donors and fundraisers
  • Encouraging and promoting wills & legacies
We are proud to be a Merseyside charity and a hospice serving and caring for the needs of our local community.
