St. Joseph’s Hospice is asking for furniture donations and new volunteers for its eight shops across Merseyside.
Volunteers' Week kicks off on 1st June and the hospice is holding an open day on Sunday 10th June from 2pm to 4pm when anyone interested in volunteering in one of it’s shops can come along and find out what’s involved and speak to other volunteers about their experience.
The hospice has also reopened the doors of its furniture shop in Kensington and it needs more furniture to sell so if you’re planning on buying something new, don’t throw out your old stuff.
The hospice needs tables and chairs, beds, sofas and cupboards as well as lamps and soft furnishings as long as they are of good quality and any soft furnishings meet the British Standards Specification for Fire Safety.
The hospice even offers a FREE furniture collection and house clearance service for good quality items which they can sell in their shops. Just call 0151 525 3072.
Jo Rigby-Clare, hospice retail manager, said: “We urgently need more volunteers in all our hospice shops and we need your furniture too so, if you can help, please get in touch.
“Supporting our shops is a really good way of helping us to raise money and our volunteers get so much out of volunteering. It’s a great way of getting out of the house, making new friends and having fun.
“Please come along to our shop volunteer open day on 10th June or pick up the phone to our furniture shop and let them know if you have any goods to donate. We really appreciate your help.”
If you’d like more information about volunteering or would like to come to the open day, please call Siobhan Clinton on 0151 932 6046.
