Hospice challenges local businesses to raise money

St. Joseph’s Hospice is launching a Corporate Challenge this autumn and it’s looking for Merseyside businesses to sign up.

The challenge, which will kick start on Monday 7th October to mark the beginning of Hospice Care Week, is to turn £50 into much, much more in just eight weeks.

All those businesses taking part will be invited to a special launch event on Tuesday 1st October and will also be invited to a special celebratory event on 13th December when the hospice will reveal who has raised the biggest amount for the hospice.

Hospice Care Week is an annual week of activity to change perceptions and raise the profile of hospice care across the UK.

The theme for this year’s Hospice Care Week is ‘This is what it takes’, which aims to highlight the less visible work that goes in to providing and paying for hospice care, such as all the materials and equipment necessary and the work of corporate sponsors and partners who help to fund it.

Norma Young, head of fundraising at St Joseph’s Hospice, said: “We’ll give all those businesses that sign up to our Corporate Challenge a £50 note and we’ll challenge them to turn it in to a much bigger figure in just eight weeks, by 30th November.

“There’s a lot that can be done in eight weeks and businesses can raise money however they like. Our fundraising team will be on hand with ideas if needed it but the rest is completely up to them and they can be as creative as they like.”
