Sky Engineers Lend a Helping Hand at St Joseph’s Hospice

A huge thank you to the amazing team of Sky engineers who volunteered at St Joseph’s Hospice this week!

A team of Sky TV engineers took time out of their busy working week to volunteer at St Joseph’s Hospice, as part of Sky’s commitment to community outreach.

Sky encourages all employees to take up to two charity days each year to support local organisations, and the Liverpool-based team chose the Hospice after one of the engineers suggested it—having had a family member cared for there.

Robbie, a team leader at Sky in Liverpool, explained the motivation behind the visit:
“It’s all about team building and giving back, really. We are really pleased to come and help at St Joseph’s. We all think it’s a great cause and really wanted to get involved.”

A team of 15 engineers spent the day supporting the Hospice in a variety of ways. Some worked in the grounds, clearing leaves and tidying outdoor areas; others delivered notices around the local community about upcoming Hospice events; while several used their Sky vans to collect and deliver parcels to support raffles and other fundraising activities.

The support was warmly welcomed by the Hospice team. Siobhan McLoughlin, Volunteer Coordinator at St Joseph’s Hospice, said:
“It’s fantastic that Sky chose us as their cause, and to see so many engineers turn up and get stuck in was wonderful. Without volunteers, we would struggle to carry out a lot of the essential work needed around the grounds, so we’d like to say a huge thank you to those who came and gave their time to the Hospice. It’s very much appreciated.”

St Joseph’s Hospice relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers and corporate partners to help maintain its grounds and support its fundraising efforts.

Any organisations interested in volunteering or arranging a corporate volunteer day are encouraged to contact St Joseph’s Hospice.
